Wine Selection
A living collection shaped by seasons, tastings, and personal encounters.
Wine Selection is an evolving editorial record of wines and winemakers we encounter over time — chosen not for comparison, but for character.
How we select
Each year, we focus on individual winemakers through a single wine or a single style that best represents their work at that moment. One of these selections naturally becomes our Wine of the Year — serving as a reference point rather than a conclusion.
2025 Selections
Myslík Winery — Irsai Oliver 2025 / semi-dry
Častá · Slovakia · 2025
A highly aromatic Irsai Oliver with typical notes of elderflower and muscat.
The aroma is intense, clean, and true to the variety.
On the palate, it is fresh and smooth, with gentle spiciness.
The semi-dry style is balanced by acidity, giving the wine good drinkability and harmonious structure.
This is a clear, technically precise expression of the variety in a young vintage, best enjoyed with light dishes, fruit salads, or grilled meat.

Ivan Foriš — Muscat Ottonel 2025 / dry
Limbach: Slovakia · 2025
This Muscat Ottonel is built on delicacy rather than showiness.
It does not aim to impress with immediate sweetness —
it works with freshness, purity, and precise balance.
The aroma is gently muscat-driven, natural, and restrained.
On the palate, it is light, fresh, and smooth,
with low alcohol, lively acidity, and excellent drinkability.
It is a young wine that already offers pleasure,
while also showing potential for further development.
With time, it gains subtle spiciness and greater depth —
without losing elegance.
In Ivan Foriš’s hands, Muscat does not act as an aromatic effect,
but as a cultivated, disciplined expression of the variety.

Ivan Vrana — Müller Thurgau 2025 / dry
Rača · Slovakia · 2025
This wine stands on purity and natural expression rather than effect.
It comes from reduced yields in the Komandle vineyard, where the focus remains on place and balance.
The aroma is gently fruity, with notes of ripe green apple and dried fruit.
On the palate, it feels light, fresh, and harmonious, with a pleasant acidity and a clean, lingering finish.
This is a wine that doesn’t overpower food — it complements it.
It works beautifully with poultry, veal, lightly grilled vegetables, or fish.
Made without enzymes, aromatic yeasts, or chemical stabilization — with a clear respect for the terroir of Rača.

Rosenberger Winery — Noria 2025 / dry
Pukanec / Rybník, Slovakia · 2025
Noria is a Slovak-bred white grape variety created from Tramín červený and Ezerjó.
The grapes for this wine come from the Stará hora vineyard near the village of Rybník, in the historic wine-growing region connected to Pukanec.
In both aroma and taste, the Tramín heritage is clearly present — elegant floral notes, gentle spice, and a fresh citrus-grapefruit undertone that gives the wine liveliness and precision.
On the palate, the wine feels clean, vibrant, and harmonious, with refreshing acidity and subtle aromatic depth rather than heaviness.
It is a wine built on character, freshness, and local identity.
Noria works beautifully with lighter cuisine, grilled fish, soft cheeses, seasonal salads, or simply as an evening wine meant for slow conversation.
